You will camp in tents by freshwater lakes and finally enjoy majestic sunsets of the Mongol Els sand dunes.


Day 1: Ulaanbaatar

adventure, wild, beyond.qxpUpon your arrival at the Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport in Mongolia, you will meet the Mongolei Reisen crew and transfer to the 4 star hotel, conveniently situated in downtown Ulaanbaatar. After freshening up from your trip, we will spend the day with a walking tour of some of the capital’s most noteworthy sites starting out at the Museum of National History where you’ll encounter exhibits highlighting the amazing history of the Mongolian people. The museum has several interested exhibits of national costumes and some artifacts from time of Chinggis Khaan. From the museum, it’s a short walk to the heart of Ulaanbaatar, Sukhbaatar Square. Here we will see the statue of Sukhbaatar, the hero of the Mongolian revolution, the Parliament house, National Opera, and City Hall. Afterwards we’ll visit Zaisan Hill, which offers great views of the city. In the evening, you will attend a performance of traditional dancing and singing. Mongolia is best known for the traditional form of throat singing, khoomii, and the horse-headed fiddle that accompanies many traditional songs. Overnight in hotel (L, D)

Day 2: Ulaanbaatar city
After breakfast, we will explore Ulaanbaatar city to experience the diversity and friendliness of the people. Some highlights will be Sukhbaatar Square - heart of city with a statue of revolutionary hero, Sukhbaatar built in 1956 – and surrounded by the Parliament house, Opera house, City Hall and others. We’ll also see Zaisan Hill – a huge solid monument
for WWII Soldiers and the Natural History Museum – displaying complete skeletons of ancient dinosaurs and a presentation of wildlife found in Mongolia Overnight in hotel (B, L, D)

Day 3: Khustai Nuruu National Park
After a 100 km drive, we approach the Khustai Nuruu Naitonal Park, a stunning natural area located in the mountain ranges of Khustai. Our trek leads us to the rich wildlife of Khustai Nuruu for observing the world famous Wild Horse, birds and other animals. The Khustai Nuruu National Park was created by the Mongolian and Netherlands Governments for assisting in the conservation of the wild horse population in Mongolia. Overnight in ger camp (B, L, D) Approx trekking time – 4 hours

The day starts with drive to Khogno Khan Mountain, a top attraction of central Mongolia,
where fantastic views of up to 200km await those who climb the 1967 meter peak. On the way, we’ll visit the ruins of a small monastery named Ovgon. We’ll also spend some time with a local family. Overnight in ger camp (B, L, D) Approx trekking time – 4 hours

Day 5: Tuvkhun Monastery
After breakfast we will drive to the Tuvkhun Monastery. Saint Zanabazar built this monastery in 1651 for use as a meditation retreat and he subsequently created some of his most famous works of art in this place. At an altitude of more than 2000 meters, surrounded by mountain larch forest you will see why it is such a significant religious site.
Trek up the tiny mountain path and relax in this silent environment. Overnight in tent (B, L, D) Approx trekking time – 4 hours

Day 6: Naiman Nuur Lake
From Tuvkhun Monastery we drive south in the direction of Naiman Nuur lake. Trekking through the high mountains of the Khangay Range, we’ll see canyons formed from ancient earthquakes and beautiful mountain canyons in the Orkhon valley. Overnight in tent (B, L, D) Approx trekking time – 2 hours

Day 7: Naiman Nuur Lake
During the day we will have challenging trek in the Naiman Nuur Lake area, where there are 8 lakes located 2200 meters above sea level and surrounded by magnificent high mountains covered by Larch forests. In some areas we will see extinct volcanic craters creating breathtaking and alien images of this natural oasis. Overnight in tent (B, L, D) Approx trekking time – 6 hours

Day 8: Orkhon waterfall
After breakfast we will drive to the Orkhon waterfall – an astonishing place with Mongolia’s largest waterfall. The area has many famous remnants of the historical Turkic state that existed here thousands of years ago. Overnight in tent (B, L, D) Approx trekking time – 5 hours

Karakorum City – ancient capital city of Mongol Empire from where Great Chinggis Khaan conquered and ruled a huge land empire – is built on the remains of Erdene Zuu Monastery, built by Abtai Sain Khaan in 1586. The monastery is being rebuilt and its splendor will leave an unforgettable cultural impression on you with its 108 white stupas, and collection of Buddhist art and antiques. Overnight in ger camp (B, L, D) Approx trekking time – 4 hours

Day 10: Khogno Khan Mountain
In the Khogno Khan Mountain we will have a challenging trek on the southern part of this magnificent rock mountain, observing the wildlife and natural oasis of this place. Also during the day, we’ll visit local families and learn more about the nomadic way of life. Overnight in ger camp (B, L, D) Approx trekking time – 4 hours

Day 11: Ulaanbaatar city
Today we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar city for free time and shopping. In the evening we will attend a Mongolian folk performance with traditional singing, dancing, contortion, and throat singing. Overnight in hotel (B, L, D)

Day 12: Departure
Our trip ends with transfer back to the airport for your departure.
